Debbie at her desert home in Pinon Hills, CA.

Born in San Luis Obispo and raised in Los Angeles, Debbie McAfee has a unique view of California that has influenced her art and life. Debbie attended California College of the Arts in Oakland, CA and received a BFA in film and photography.  She is a member of Los Angeles Art Association and has exhibited at Gallery 825 in West Hollywood and at ArtShare LA in the Los Angeles Arts District.

Debbie fell in love with photography when she was gifted a Kodak Brownie Camera at age 6.  Around the same time she started sewing doll dresses on her mother’s Singer Featherweight sewing machine.

Her most current pieces are created from textiles and inspired by her own photography. In the past she has also worked in chalk pastel, oil paints and acrylic paint. She spends as much of her free time taking photos, sewing or knitting.

She currently splits her time between Boyle Heights, Los Angeles and Pinon Hills in the high desert just Northeast of Los Angeles.
